The Self Employment Assistance Program is a really cool option for people receiving unemployment benefits to learn to be their own boss, design and launch an income generating business, while still receiving UI Benefits. It is only offered in a few US states, and some extra cool countries like Australia.
How did I get Selected?

Lucky you! The algorithm used by the ESD selects those upper earners, over a certain age, who are deemed more likely to earn more through self employment than from simply getting another job. Basically you are educated, in an upper income bracket, and older (like me), but under-employed or about to be. Or so the algorithm says.

Can I apply for SEAP Training without being selected?
Yes! Anyone can apply to be approved into the Self Employment Assistance Program. However it is only available in a few states right now. Simply email us your completed application. We complete the Training Provider portion of your SEAP Application and fax or email it to the ESD on your behalf. Then you wait (usually 2 weeks or so) to hear from them about their decision.
